Photography has always been quietly present in my life.
My mom was an avid hobbyist film photographer when I was growing up, so cameras were always around the house. I had my own little film camera when I was about nine years old, and somehow I usually ended up being the one taking the photos — at family gatherings, on trips, with friends. It was just something I naturally gravitated toward.
What I didn’t realize at the time was that photography could actually be a career.
What began as something intuitive slowly became a craft I devoted myself to fully.
Over the years I’ve had the privilege of photographing more than 100 weddings across Nova Scotia and beyond. Some have been intimate backyard celebrations, others large gatherings at beautiful coastal venues, and a few have taken me across the world for destination weddings in places like Italy.
My approach is simple. I want you to feel present on your wedding day.
Not rushed. Not overly directed. Just fully inside the experience of it all.
The photographs come from that space.
Like a lot of people, I grew up thinking the responsible thing to do was to choose a path that felt stable and predictable — the kind of work that made sense on paper. So for most of my early adult life I focused on building a traditional career and working for someone else.
It wasn’t until much later that I started paying attention to the moments where I completely lost track of time. The things I could spend hours doing without noticing.
Photography was always one of those things.
Once I allowed myself to take it seriously, everything started to click into place.
While my work has been published and shared in different places over the years, the part that matters most to me is the trust couples place in me to document something that only happens once.
When I show up to photograph a wedding, my goal is not just to create beautiful images. It’s to notice the details, the emotion, and the energy of the day so that when you look back at these photographs years from now, you can actually feel what it was like to be there.
That is the real work of photography — and it’s something I’m endlessly grateful to do.
