A Perfect Backyard Wedding in Port Williams; a real wedding with one of my wonderful 2024 couples. There’s something magical about a wedding day that starts at a vineyard. For my couple, L+B, the morning began at The Barn Suite at Beausoleil Farmstead in Port Williams. The vineyard’s landscape, lush with greenery and endless skies, provided the perfect backdrop for getting-ready moments.

A Perfect Backyard Wedding in Port Williams: Getting Ready in Good Company

The videographer and I were immediately welcomed by a lively energy that filled the entire space. Upon stepping into the suite, we saw the bride and her bridesmaids surrounded by close family members. A talented hair and makeup team worked together seamlessly to bring the bride’s vision to life. Throughout the preparations, a beautiful blend of laughter and tears filled the room. Especially touching were two first looks—one with the bride’s father, and shortly after, another with her stepfather. Adding to the magic, an eagle unexpectedly soared above, enhancing an already emotional scene. Later, the bridesmaids shared their own first look, bringing pure joy and excitement to the moment.

The Couple’s Anticipation and Their First Look

L+B chose not to see each other before the ceremony, making their first look down the aisle even more powerful. Their connection was undeniable; every expression showed the joy and anticipation of starting their life together. This couple radiated a lighthearted, carefree spirit and being surrounded by loved ones meant everything to them. The presence of friends and family truly brought warmth and joy to their day.

The Ceremony: An Idyllic Setting at a Family Property

Held on the couple’s family property in Port Williams, the ceremony was set against one of the most stunning backdrops I’ve seen. With a gold arch adorned with fresh flowers and a landscape lovingly groomed for the day, the setting had a blend of elegance and natural beauty. The ceremony included personalized vows, bringing out heartfelt moments that resonated with everyone in attendance.

A Perfect Backyard Wedding in Port Williams: Classic and Modern Style

The overall aesthetic was a sophisticated mix of black bridesmaid dresses and classic white rose bouquets, beautifully contrasting the vibrant greens of the vineyard and other portrait locations, like Irving Botanical Garden. The bride wore a custom gown by Designer, Pearle by Katrina Tuttle, which added a timeless elegance to the day. Every detail came together seamlessly, creating a look that was both modern and effortlessly chic.

Reception Energy: Celebrating and a Special Tribute

The reception was high-energy from the start, filled with heartfelt speeches and joyous laughter. One especially memorable moment came when the bride dedicated her bouquet to her mother—a thoughtful gesture that gave the mother of the bride a much-deserved moment of honour. The couple’s first dance was slow and romantic, setting the tone for the evening before everyone hit the dance floor. The wedding day ended just as it should: with friends and family celebrating, dancing and savouring every moment together.

Capturing Authentic Moments

Some of my favourite photos came from the time we spent at the Airbnb and around Acadia’s expansive grounds. The spaces allowed us to capture large bridal party portraits and intimate, unscripted moments. One powerful image from the day is of the bride’s grandparents, capturing a quiet connection that felt both timeless and deeply personal.

Reflections on a Backyard Wedding in Wolfville

This wedding was a refreshing reminder of the charm and authenticity of backyard weddings. Being in Wolfville’s scenic valley brought a unique, beautiful energy to the day. The joy, connection and stunning surroundings made this a celebration I won’t soon forget.

A Perfect Send-Off

The day ended with everyone on their feet, dancing and celebrating L+B as they started their new chapter together. The heart of the day was truly about family and friendship, and it’s a privilege to have been there to capture every unforgettable moment.
